Back on the breathtaking trailer for “Iron Man 3”, which had made Marvel fans impatient in 2013.
We are at the beginning of 2013. It has been five years since the Marvel Cinematic Universe methodically shot its cards on the Hollywood table, and that producer Kevin Feige built his Empire Pierre after Pierre.
The latest has literally trembled the whole world since in April 2012 released Avengers, the first of the name. This long-awaited superheroic gathering between Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Black Widow and Hawkeye had raised no less than $ 1.5 billion at the box office, and had filled with stars with millions of fans.
The first Marvel after Avengers
Obviously, after this historic shine and a post-generic scene revealing an even more exciting future for superheroes, all eyes were now riveted on the Marvel line-up and on future outings of the studio.
It was therefore with an impatience not hidden and a feverish enthusiasm that the spectators discovered the first trailer of Iron Man 3, a new feature film dedicated to the one that allowed the MCU to take off.
Perfectly aware of the staggering expectations around the film, the producers decided to put the little dishes in the big ones by offering a real spectacle to their fans from the film's teaser.
“So … why don't I sleep?”
Pumped by an epic musical score at will, punctuated by deliberately striking images such as the house of Tony Stark reduced to ashes or a battalion of new armor flying to its rescue, the trailer opened with this enigmatic voiceover of Robert Downey Jr.:
“I'm Tony Stark. I make beautiful gadgets. I have a great girlfriend. And from time to time, I save the world. So … why don't I sleep?”
A replica which immediately announced a much darker tone for this new adventure, and the beginning of an unprecedented chapter for the MCU (of which Iron Man 3 represented the first film in phase II).
Unveiled 12 years ago, this unforgettable trailer is one of the very many examples of Marvel's know-how in terms of trailers. Precise, impressive, fabulously rhythmic and always of a formidable efficiency, they often represent real small shows by themselves.
