You’ve probably heard about the Myers-Briggs Personality Type Indicator. It is a famous system created to deduce people’s personality types. It was developed by Isabel Myers and her mother Katherine Briggs in the 1940s. The two took inspiration from Carl Jung’s theory of personality types to create their own system. They came up with a bunch of questions that help determines which of the personality types you fall into. There are 16 different personalities you can fall under. Of those 16, one that is prevalent amongst celebrities is the INFP (introversion, intuition, feeling, perception) personality type. INFP celebrities are known to be creative, idealistic, and strangely introverted.

From actors and musicians to writers and artists, some of the most famous celebrities have an INFP personality. Read on to find out more about 15 of these famous faces.

1. William Shakespeare

The great writer William Shakespeare is said to have been an INFP. While he might not be considered a celebrity in modern times, he was a big deal back in the late 1500s. The English playwright, poet, and actor was responsible for some amazing works, including Romeo & Juliet, Hamletand Macbeth. Many of his popular plays have been adapted into films and other media over the years.

Although he wasn’t as revered as he is today, Shakespeare’s work was still well received by critics. While he wasn’t rich, he was comfortable for someone of his standing at that time. He was known to be hard-working, open-minded, and passionate, all hallmarks of the INFP personality type.

A huge star during the 50s and 60s, Audrey Hepburn is another famous celebrity with an INFP personality. She began training as a ballet dancer during her youth before taking to the stage and eventually film. Her big break was alongside Gregory Peck in the 1953 romantic comedy Roman Holiday. She then starred in a raft of successful films, including My Fair Lady, Charade, Wait Until Darkand Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

Tim Burton is a writer and director who often creates characters that have the INFP personality. If you go through his filmography you will find characters such as Lydia Deetz from BeetlejuiceEdward Scissorhands from Edward Scissorhandsand Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas all fall into this category. They are kind, generous, quiet types with creative streaks. These characters reflect Burton’s own diagnosis as an INFP personality.

Lisa Kudrow is another famous actress who is also an INFP. Like anyone with this personality type, Kudrow has high values and is very determined, hence her success in the medium of TV and film. While she is best known for playing Phoebe on FriendsKudrow has also had a very successful entertainment career since the show ended. She’s appeared in a host of TV shows, playing small roles to the lead character, while also featuring in hits such as Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion, Analyze This/Analyze That, and Booksmart.

It comes as no great surprise that the late, great Kurt Cobain was an INFP. The singer of Nirvana was a shy man with an unmatched creative streak. While he never wanted to be famous, when his band Nirvana became the biggest act in the world in 1992, he had no choice but to accept the spotlight.

Unfortunately, Cobain couldn’t cope. A heroin addiction, a variety of health problems, his battle with fame, and an erratic relationship with his wife Courtney Love proved too much. Cobain killed himself on April 5, 1994. His death remains a tragedy and signaled the end of the grunge movement.

Another musician, Bjork certainly fits the bill of someone who is an INFP. The creative Icelandic singer and performer has made a career out of crafting interesting songs that are like nothing else. Not only is her music incredibly haunting and enchanting, but the music videos that accompany her singles are really out there. She also carries this creativeness into her live performances, wearing costumes and erecting extravagant stages. Bjork is currently finishing work on her tenth album, set for release later this year.

7. Andrew Garfield

First finding fame with the telemovie Boy AAndrew Garfield broke out into the mainstream with his captivating role in The Social Network. Then he found himself in ratified air after being cast as Spider-Man in the second big-budget adaptation of the much loved Marvel character in 2012. Since then Garfield has had an interesting career, appearing in several Broadway plays while taking roles in films such as war epic Hacksaw Ridgehistorical drama Silenceand the musical Tick, Tick… Boom! Surprisingly his filmography isn’t that large, with Garfield seemingly happy to wait until he is offered great roles that tickle his INFP personality.

Married to actor John Krasinski, Blunt is an award winner who has built a reputation as a must watch performer who never fails to deliver, no matter how big or small her role is. This one makes sense. Vincent van Gogh was an extremely talented artist who created some of the most well known artworks the world has ever seen. He was also someone who was quite a sensitive soul who always tried to uphold his values, like any good INFP. While regarded as one of the greats, van Gogh never found success during his short life. He was poor for most of it and struggled with mental health issues, particularly depression. Sadly van Gogh took his own life at the age of 37, but he left behind a legacy that is unmatched.

Hellen Keller was said to be an INFP personality. Losing her sight and hearing as a baby, Keller’s future wasn’t bright until she met her first teacher and life-long companion Anne Sullivan. She taught Keller how to read and write and helped her on her journey as an advocate for the rights of those with disabilities. Keller took up many social and political causes during her life and was a prolific writer. She wrote 14 novels and hundreds of short stories and essays on a wide range of subjects.

After a stroke in 1964, Keller spent the rest of her life at home. She campaigned for the American Foundation for the Blind before passing in her sleep in 1968.

11. John Lennon

John Lennon was another classic INFP. Like his peers Bob Dylan, Jim Morrison, and James Taylor, Lennon was authentic, loyal, and enjoyed being on his own. As a member of The Beatles he was part of music history. Over the space of seven years they released 13 studio albums and became the biggest act in the world. Upon their demise in 1970, Lennon went on to have a successful solo career. Often recording with his wife, Yoko Ono, Lennon released a stack of material, including hit singles Imagine, Give Peace a Chance, Instant Karmaand (Just Like) Starting Over.

On December 8, 1980, Lennon was shot and killed by crazed fan Mark David Chapman. Just 40 at the time of his death, Lennon was making a comeback after five years away from recording. His death was a tragic event that robbed the world of one of its great artists.

Literary giant Geroge Orwell wrote many books during his time on earth. His novels challenged social and political concepts and often dealt with totalitarian and authoritarian worlds. Many of his works, including Animal Farm and Nineteen Eighty-Fourstill resonate today.

Along with writing fiction, Orwell also wrote many well received non-fiction books and essays, such as The Road to Wigan Pier and Homage to Catalonia. He was also a literary critic and a food writer, continuing to write at a steady pace until he was diagnosed with tuberculosis in 1947. His health quickly began to deteriorate and he spent his final years in hospital before eventually passing from a burst artery in his lungs at the age of 46.

Englishman Tom Hiddleston is another famous person who is also an INFP. A polite and sincere man, Hiddleston uses his INFP personality trait to good use as an actor. INFP actors are known for being able to show emotion through a subtle glance or facial expression. They don’t need a lot of words to convey what they are thinking and feeling. This is something Hiddleston is known for doing. You can often tell a lot about the fictional character he is playing by looking into his eyes. Along with the likes of JK Rowling and George R R Martin, J R R Tolkein created vibrant and enchanting worlds where his stories take place. His books are revered for their detail, with the famous writer even creating his own language for many of the characters he created.

While The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit are his best known works, Tolkein wrote many more novels, short stories, and essays during his time on earth. His legacy continues today, with new books based around Middle Earth continuing to be written by other authors and a new production of The Lord of the Rings coming to the small screen.
