Taking another step to showcase the beauty of Indian culture, IRCTC is launching a new route following various places mentioned in the great Hindu epic Ramayana. Shri Ramayana Express, as the route is called, is expected to hit the tracks from 14 November 2018.

This route will start from Safdarjung Railway Station and will continue further. Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh and Rameshwaram In Tamil Nadu; And it will end in Sri Lanka Colombo, It will take 16 days to cover this entire distance. Food will be provided on the ship and there will also be accommodation in dharamshalas. Talking about the cost, it will be Rs 15,120 per person.

Apart from the mentioned stoppages, the train will stop at Nandigram, Sitamarhi, Janakpur, Varanasi, Prayag, Shringverpur, Chitrakoot, Nashik, Hampi and Rameshwaram. Major attractions at each destination will be accessible by road from the station, facilitated by IRCTC.

To travel to Colombo, pilgrims will board a train to Chennai and fly to Colombo to continue their pilgrimage. While in Sri Lanka, travelers will also cover Ramboda, Nuwara Eliya and Chilaw. Talking about the frequency of trains, it will be analyzed based on the feedback and increased accordingly.
