A “James Bond Worker”: 35 years later, this cult detective series from the 80s will become a film … and a Breaking Bad actor will return!

A film “A cop in the mafia” is in preparation with an actor of the original detective series of return that we now know under the name of Mike Ehrmantraut…

More than three decades after its broadcast of four seasons in the late 1980s, a film adaptation of the detective series A cop in the mafia – or Wiseguy From its original title – CBS is in preparation.

In The original seriesbroadcast in 1987 and 1990, Ken Wahl embodied Vinnie Terranova, a small thug who had just left prison and joined the mafia family of Sonny Steelgrave. At least that was what his mother and friends believed … because Vinnie was actually a federal agent of the organized crime of the infiltrated FBI. His mission? Harvesting, by all possible means, information on the environment that surrounded it, in the hope of dismantling the Italian crime union and seeing the big cups it monitored.

A cop in the mafia Was partially serialized with narrative arcs extending over several episodes – some shorts, other longs, each staging a specific group of main characters appearing during several episodes.

According to The Insneider, The new film should take place in the same universe as The original showbut should follow a new protagonist aged 30 to 40, describes as a “James Bond worker”.

For now, Ken Wahl is not yet associated with the film, but his partner on the screen and former actor of Breaking Bad, Jonathan Banks, would be back to resume his role of the main agent of the FBI Frank McPike, who supervised Vinnie in the series.

Jonathan Banks is known to have embodied the character of Mike Ehrmantraut in breaking Bad (2009-2013) then in its spin-off Better Call Saul (2015-2022), as well as in the film Derivated El Camino (2019).

Sophie Cassidy and Jeff Katz (the Vatican exorcist) will produce the film with Tawnia McKiernan.

While waiting to be able to see him resume his old role in the film Le Cop de la Mafia, Jonathan Banks can be found in Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul and El Camino, all available on Netflix.
