We’ve previously covered the P.O.D.-S3.1 and have got our hands on images of the P.O.D. System AQ1059 which was released this month.
Here’s a quote from Adidas explaining the new silhouette:
“Celebrating open source collaboration and creativity, the P.O.D. System takes inspiration from adidas’ iconic 90s ‘Point of Deflection System’ technology. Engineered with a podular sole unit, the silhouette features a new tooling built for the purpose of creating natural motion, flexibility and comfort. Drawing from the past in order to reimagine the future, the P.O.D. System represents a new standard in footwear.”
The bottom is split into two parts with Boost technology at the back supporting the heel and keeping it very comfortable. On the split is the P.O.D. bridge which allows great flexibility with movement but also stability for the middle of your foot. The High Rebound EVA compound covers the bottom for extra cushioning for the whole foot. Overall this looks like a really comfortable, flexible and good looking sneaker and we’re very excited to see how it develops in future.

Earlier this month Adidas released the P.O.D. System with a series of events and workshops to celebrate the launch. Global creators attended such as Victor Ma, Dj Clark Kent amongst others, where they spent the day at the P.O.D. System Maker Lab in Shoreditch and were given the opportunity to collaborate with adidas to create their own interpretations of the P.O.D. System. Assisted by adidas designers, customisers, local makers and students, attendees crafted a one of a kind shoe which they were able to keep. We’re incredibly jealous!
Pharell Williams also offered his input in designs as well as a live performance. Plus performances from Migos, Suspect OTB and DJ Benji B made it to be a fantastic event – check out the photos below and see for yourself!
