The legendary German sportswear brand adidas has operated a partnership with a company known as Parley for several years now. Parley create usable materials from ocean plastics, all of which are 100% environmentally friendly, and the pair seem to be enjoying considerable success.
Yesterday adidas announced its quarterly earnings to the world, and there were some interesting statistics amongst the mix. One figure in particular really grabbed our attention, and this was the fact that adidas sold 1 million pairs of sneakers in collaboration with Parley. This is great news. Parley create fabrics made out of ocean plastics, making them totally eco-friendly and bio-degradable. For several years now, they’ve worked in conjunction with adidas creating Parley sneakers. It seems that the partnership is really taking off, and these sales figures are more than impressive.
The pair have collaborated many times now, and several different silhouettes have received the Parley treatment, including much loved models such as the Ultra Boost and NMD R1. Key figures for the adidas brand have even spoken out regarding the future of Parley x adidas. Global head of running Andre Maestrini has stated, “The Fall/Winter 2018 Ultra Boost will have 80 percent of the upper material made from ocean plastic, it is no longer an addition. It is going to be how we make the Ultra Boost in the future. That’s how seriously committed we are with this idea.”
We’re looking forward to seeing what the partnership brings us in the coming months. As always, as soon as the latest news is unveiled we’ll be the first to update you, so stay locked in right here.
