After the successes of the three musketeers and the Count of Monte Cristo at the box office, French literature is increasingly inspiring cinema. If other projects are underway for the big screen, the platforms are also on page, including Netflix, which has just announced its brand new large -scale production.

The streaming service has just unveiled the production of the French film Quasimodo, produced by Clément Miserez and Matthieu Warter (radar films), whose shooting will start this summer in France.

Vincent Cassel will be Quasimodo for Netflix

According to information from Netflix, this film imagines the life of the one who inspired Quasimodo, the famous character of Victor Hugo, mixing Revolt and Impossible Love on the eve of the July Revolution (1830), in a Paris threatened by the cholera epidemic.

And to embody Quasimodo, the actor Vincent Cassel was chosen. The French star collaborates for the second time with Netflix after the Comédie Banger, released a few months ago on the platform.

For the moment, Vincent Cassel is the only actor announced to the casting of this new major feature film, which should be a highlight for Netflix. The actor of 58 finds for the occasion a director whom he knows well, namely Jean-François Richet.

The filmmaker has indeed led her several times, notably in the Dyptic Mesrine, composed of the films the instinct of death and the public enemy number 1, but also a moment of error and a few years ago the Emperor of Paris, in which Vincent Cassel played Vidocq.

The scenario of Quasimodo is signed Eric Besnard, screenwriter of the Films Le Convoyeur, Made in France or even Babylon AD by Matthieu Kassovitz, but also director of the films Ca $ h, the taste of wonders and the family spirit and soon of Jean Valjean, inspired by Victor Hugo, with Grégory Gadebois.
