This surprising “accident” on the set of “Alien, the resurrection” gave birth to one of the most striking scenes in the film. Back on the anecdote that accompanies this gesture that has become cult.
The cinema sometimes reserves unexpected surprises and certain scenes which seem too beautiful to be true are in reality the fruit of spontaneous and unforeseen moments – and this is the case of this alien scene, the resurrection.
Whether you like it or not, Alien, the resurrectionreleased in 1997, offers a brilliant moment when the Ripley clone (Sigourney Weaver) launches a basketball ball over her head nonchalantly, making him enter the basket behind it.
It is such a perfect moment that spectators could not blame that it was a visual effect, or even an intervention by a member of the filming team that would have dropped another ball into the basket from above, since Weaver's ball disappears from the top of the image when it launches it.
But, no, as what culture reminds us, Sigourney Weaver did this basket, without artifice, and better still, from the first catch, at the great amazement of the whole team. And nobody was able to hide his enthusiasm, not even Ron Perlman (Sons of Anarchy) who quickly turned to the camera with a huge smile, when we can hear exclamations of joy on the set!

Perlman and the team then feared that they have inadvertently spoiled the catch by rejoicing aloud immediately after the ball crossed the basket. But after viewing the images, the director Jean-Pierre Jeunet found that there was just enough break before the explosion of joy so that the plan can still be used!
Thus, the nonchalant gesture of Sigourney Weaver has become one of the most memorable sequences in the film. What could have been a simple failed plug turned into a magical moment, capturing both the luck (and the talent for basketball) of the actress and the enthusiasm of the shooting team.
