Apple investigating an issue with Apple Watch display

Some Apple Watch owners are experiencing an issue where the display flickers or pulsates when Always On mode is enabled.

According to the contents of an internal service memo shared with Apple authorized service providers and seen by MacRumors, the good news is that Apple is now investigating the issue.

The memo, which was reportedly sent on Tuesday, does not specify which Apple Watch models are experiencing the problem, although reports suggest the recently released Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 models. Those running watchOS 10 and later are most affected.

Dissatisfied users are sharing their experiences on various Apple-centric forums, with some describing the problem as “jittering” or “random flickering.”

The memo also mentions an issue where complications on the watch face temporarily turn pink, an issue that has also been described by several Apple Watch owners, MacRumors reported.

Apple told service providers that they do not need to take the affected watches in for repair and instead they should tell customers to make sure their Apple Watch’s software is kept up to date, the advice suggests that Apple is very There will already be a fix for this – possibly as part of watchOS 10.1, which may get a public release as early as next week.

Until then, affected users who find the issue bothersome can turn off Always On Display by going to Settings on Apple Watch, selecting Display & Brightness, and then selecting Always On.

The Always On feature dims the display when not in use and brightens it when you raise the device. It was introduced with the Apple Watch Series 5, which the company released in 2019. It also works with the Apple Watch Ultra and Ultra 2, though not with the company’s more affordable Apple Watch SE.

Despite lots of pre-launch testing, sometimes issues with new software may emerge soon after it becomes available. Apple recently released a software fix for the new iPhone 15 Pro after some users complained that the handset was getting hotter than expected.
