Arlo adds a battery to its new Essential Wire-Free Video Doorbell

Arlo’s new battery-powered doorbell costs $ 200.

The Essential Wire-Free Video Doorbell – Arlo’s newest video doorbell – is a little different the company’s existing hardwired video doorbell. Instead of a strictly hard-wired design, Essential’s new wireless video doorbell can either be hard-wired or powered by an included battery. According to Arlo, the Essential doorbell should last three to six months on a single charge.

The $ 200 wireless video doorbell is available for pre-order now at select retailers and will ship later this year. International pricing is not yet available, but that’s roughly £ 160 or AU $ 280.

Arlo sells a range of home security devices from the Pro 3 outdoor surveillance cameras to the Pro 3 floodlight cameras – and a variety of accessories. Its products are on the high end of home improvement safety and include an optional Arlo Smart subscription service. Arlo Smart starts at $ 3 a month and includes 30 days of stored video clips, advanced alerts that differentiate between people, animals, vehicles and packages, activity zones, and the e911 service that contacts local law enforcement even when you are away from home are.

The Essential Wire-Free Video Doorbell has a 180 degree field of view and a 1: 1 aspect ratio so you can see more of your front bend, a built-in siren for security and compatibility with Alexa and Google assistant.

Unlike select other Arlo devices, a base station is not required for the Essential doorbell to work.

In addition to the essential wireless video doorbell, Arlo plans to release an Arlo chimes in early 2021 that will work alongside the battery-powered doorbell.
