British Open 2024: We now definitively know which Dan Brown is the better golfer | Golf News and Tour Information

At this point, if you throw a rock near a golf course, you’re going to hit a Dan Brown. The surprise major contender is keeping the namesake on the front pages with his stellar play at Royal Troon, but it looks like he’s not the only Brown to keep things interesting on the course.

CBS golf reporter Kyle Porter reached out to the Open contender’s alter ego, author Dan Brown of “The Da Vinci Code” fame, who chimed in on the Brit’s strong showing and a major mistake of his own. Check it out.

“I emailed Da Vinci Code author, Dan Brown, last night to see if he was watching the Dan Brown contending in the Open,” Porter tweeted. “Here’s what he wrote back: ‘This was the result of my last shot — I’m pleased to see my alter ego is playing better than I am.’”

Accompanying the note is a photo of Brown with a broken clubhead. We’re not totally sure what happened, but the mystery is always part of the charm with the bestselling author. “10/10 that clubhead is actually a key to an underground vault in Peru,” a commenter added.

We can’t wait for the Dan Browns to finally meet up, perhaps at a future pro-am, and finally show us which one is the superior golfer. There’s a strong chance it’s the pro in the mix at the Open and not the writer with a shattered club, and yet, that’s the beauty of this game. There’s always a plot twist in there somewhere. We hope that one of the Dan Browns writes it someday.
