Casey Kaufhold, Brady Ellison win bronze medal at Paris Olympics

Lancaster County’s Casey Kaufhold and Brady Ellison just won the bronze medal in mixed team archery at the Paris Olympics.Kaufhold, who is from Smoketown, came through in the clutch, launching the medal-winning shot to give Team USA a 6-2 win over India.Round-by-Round updatesIn their first round this morning, Team USA defeated Uzbekistan 6-0, sending them to the quarterfinals.Kaufhold and Ellison won again in the quarterfinals, beating the team from Japan 5-3. Round-by-Round updates

  • In their first round this morning, Team USA defeated Uzbekistan 6-0, sending them to the quarterfinals.
  • Kaufhold and Ellison won again in the quarterfinals, beating the team from Japan 5-3.
  • That win sent Team USA to the semifinals, where they lost to Germany 5-3.
  • Kaufhold and Ellison defeat India 6-2 to win the bronze medal!

Individual competitions

Kaufhold competed in the women’s individual competition on Thursday morning but was eliminated after placing fourth.

Ellison advanced in the men’s individual ranking round Thursday morning, defeating Muhammed Adbullah Yildirmis of Turkey, 6-2, then beating W.C. Kao, of China, also by a score of 6-2.

He’ll also compete on Sunday, Aug. 4, in the men’s individual round of 16.
