EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes set the NFL record for the fastest player to reach 200 career touchdown passes on Sunday night, accomplishing the feat in just 172 games. Mahomes broke the previous record of 182 games held by Peyton Manning.

Mahomes reached the milestone in the first quarter of the Chiefs’ game against the New York Jets, connecting with tight end Noah Gray on a 34-yard touchdown pass. The touchdown was Mahomes’ second of the game and gave the Chiefs a 17-0 lead.

Mahomes’ record-setting touchdown was met with a standing ovation from the crowd at MetLife Stadium, and his teammates rushed the field to celebrate with him.

“It’s an honor to break this record,” Mahomes said after the game. “Peyton Manning is one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, so to be mentioned in the same breath as him is truly special.”
