Europe is the second-smallest continent among the seven continents of the world. It covers an area of about 10.18 million km2 (3.93 million sq mi), that is, about 2% of Earth’s surface. Europe in totality is divided into 50 countries. According to 2021, the total population of Europe is about 745 million which constitutes about 10% of the world population. European culture is at the root of western civilisation. Russia is the largest country in this continent covering about 39% of the continent and comprising 15% of its population.
Geographical Location of Europe: Europe is located in the northern hemisphere and eastern hemisphere. It is bounded by the Arctic Ocean in the north, the Atlantic Ocean to its west, the Mediterranean Sea in the south and Asia to its east. Europe is commonly segregated from Asia by the watershed of the Ural Mountains, the Ural River, the Caspian Sea, the Greater Caucasus, the Black Sea and the waterways of the Turkish Straits.
