There’s never a dull moment for Dr. Ben Song (Raymond Lee) on NBC long jump, Every time Ben travels through time, he jumps into a stranger’s life and sees someone else’s face in the mirror. Last week, Ben was a bank teller named Lorena Chaves, and in long jump In Season 2 Episode 3, “Closer Encounters”, Ben leaps into the life of a government agent investigating paranormal activity. This might not be the weirdest thing Ben has seen this week. In our exclusive preview scene of the episode, Ben meets Hannah Carson (Eliza Taylor), a new player he will see a lot of this season.
Taylor is joining the cast on a full-time basis, so this isn’t a one-time guest role. This also means that Hannah is possibly fronting for Ben in this scene. Alternatively, Hannah may not even know that Ben is a jumper. By all outward appearances, Ben is a perfectly normal person.
So who is Hannah? From a purely hypothetical point of view, there are three possibilities. In the first, Hannah is someone who may be associated with Project Quantum Leap from a different time. This would make her a potential friend and ally to Ben when they both find out they are about to make the leap. The next option is that Hannah is somehow tied to Leaper
Finally, the most attractive possibility is a callback to the original. long jump series. Under this scenario, Hannah’s jump back in time would be under the control of an evil AI named Lothos. This would make Hannah the new evil Jumpman, who would be sent back in time to ensure that tragedies and terrible things happen to good people. Sam Beckett’s literal opposite number in the first series, and now Ben’s too.
