Natural remedies for menstrual cramps and painMenstruation cramps (dysmenorrhea) or pain in the lower abdomen is common and not to be worried for. Menstruation is a normal and most important part of a woman which leads her to the power to procreation but quite often women feel the sharp pain and cramps during the periods or when they are menstruating. These pain and menstruation cramps are due to the uterus contraction to shed the blood lining the uterus. Teenagers are more likely to experience the menstrual cramps and abdomen pain. But when the pain becomes unbearable then there are some natural cures and  home remedies which can help relive the menstruation pain easily and effectively.

Natural Remedies for menstrual cramps and pain

1. Heat Application

Using warm padding or the heating pads under the lower abdomen helps to relive the menstrual cramps to a great extent. When the uterus contracts, it causes pain but heat and warmth will ease the pain. Put a heating pack or just use your palms to cover the lower abdomen and soon you will feel better.

When heating pad is not available. Fill a plastic bottle with warm water and use that on the lower abdomen to relive the menstrual cramps pain fast.

2. Chamomile tea

Chamomile tea is antispasmodic which helps to ease out the cramps and it is also a good cure for the menstrual cramps. Drink a cup of chamomile tea and relax, it will reduce the pain due to menstrual cramps in the lower abdomen.

3. Ginger

Ginger is a natural remedy for the irregular periods and pain due to menstrual cramps. Take a small piece of ginger root and boil it in a cup of water. When the water reached half a cup stop boiling it and add one teaspoonful of honey in it. Ginger lower the levels of prostaglandins which causes the uterus contraction and menstrual cramps pain eventually will go away faster. [Ginger juice for health]

4. Cinnamon

Cinnamon is a great spice which has loads of health benefits and easing out the menstrual cramps fast is one of them. Cinnamon has anti inflammatory, anti clotting and anti spasmodic properties. Cinnamon is also good for boosting the immunity and metabolism of the body. Take one cup of water and add 5 pinches of cinnamon powder in it. Boil it and when the water reached half. Stop boiling it and let it cool down little bit. Drink it to ease the pain in the lower abdomen due to menstrual cramps.

5. Fennel

Like we said in the previous article on how to cure irregular periods naturally, fennel is excellent to reduce the menstrual cramps too. Make a fennel tea for relieving the menstrual cramps by taking one cup of water and adding one teaspoonful of fennel seeds. Let it boil for 5 minutes and then strain it. Drink this tea slowing and see the results in menstrual cramps.

6. Parsley

Parsley is added in Indian dishes for slight flavor and its wonderful aroma. This herb is also a great natural remedy to treat menstrual cramps during the periods. Parsley too has antispasmodic properties which help it to relive the menstrual pain face by women and teenagers. Take one cup of water and add handful of parsley in it. 7. Flaxseeds
