Online Application Process (Step-by-Step)
Note: Most states have their own specific portals. The general process is listed below, followed by direct state links.
-
Visit your State’s Official PDS Portal (See list below).
-
Locate the Link: Look for an option like “Link Aadhaar with Ration Card,” “e-KYC,” “Aadhaar Seeding,” or “Citizen Services.”
-
Login: Enter your Ration Card Number and Captcha. Some portals may ask for the Head of Family’s Aadhaar number to log in.
-
Select Members: You will see a list of family members. Select the member whose Aadhaar needs linking.
-
Enter Aadhaar Details: Type the 12-digit Aadhaar number of that member carefully.
-
OTP Verification: Click “Submit” or “Send OTP.” A code will be sent to the mobile number linked to that specific Aadhaar. Enter it to verify.
-
Success Message: You will receive an SMS or on-screen confirmation (e.g., “Aadhaar Seeding Request Submitted successfully”).

Submit a written application along with photocopies of the Ration Card and Aadhaar Cards of all unlinked members.
-
Carry original documents for verification.

The officer will manually update the seeding in the database.

Common Problems & Solutions
1. Name Mismatch Error
-
Problem: The spelling of the name on the Aadhaar Card differs from the Ration Card (e.g., “Ravi Kumar” vs. “Ravi Kumar Singh”).
-
Solution: You must correct the name on one document to match the other exactly. Usually, it is easier to update the Ration Card name at your local Food Supply Office.
2. OTP Not Received
-
Problem: The mobile number linked to Aadhaar is old or inactive.
-
Solution: Visit the nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra to update your mobile number first. You cannot link online without an active mobile connection.
3. “UID Already Exists” Error
-
Problem: This Aadhaar number is already linked to another Ration Card (possibly an old family card or a previous address).
-
Solution: You must delete the name from the old Ration Card first. Submit a “Deletion Certificate” or a formal request to the Food Supply Officer to remove the old mapping.
4. Biometric Failure (Offline)
-
Problem: The e-PoS machine at the ration shop cannot read fingerprints (common for elderly or manual laborers).
-
Solution: Request the officer to use “Iris Scan” if available, or submit a manual application at the Circle Office with a declaration form.
5. Family Member Not Showing Online
-
Problem: You log in, but a specific child or member is missing from the list.
-
Solution: This means the member is not added to the Ration Card database yet. You must apply for “Add Member” (Form 3 or similar) before you can link their Aadhaar.
