Common Mistakes and How to Fix Them

Your UMANG login (mobile + MPIN) gets you into the app, but accessing EPFO needs your UAN + OTP, accessing DigiLocker needs Aadhaar + OTP, and accessing NPS needs your PRAN + password. It’s not single sign-on — it’s more like a mall with many shops, each with its own entry pass. So before you open a service, have the relevant credentials ready. Sitting on a bus trying to recall your UAN while the OTP timer is counting down is not fun.

Also: you can use UMANG even if you’re abroad. The international version of the app is available in countries like the USA, UK, UAE, Canada, Singapore, and Australia. NRIs can check their EPF balance, access DigiLocker, and use Aadhaar services from overseas — as long as they have their Indian mobile number active for OTPs.
