HP announced that it is redesigning its Omen gaming ecosystem and updating its Omen 30L desktop. New this year is the support of the second generation of ray tracing graphics cards from Nvidia. The Omen 30L can be configured with up to a powerful Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 GPU. Nvidia boasts that its latest graphics series, the GeForce RT 3000 series, offers up to 1.9 times as much performance per watt as the previous generation. Hence, the new Omen 30L will be an incredibly powerful gaming system for enthusiasts who want to gamble without sacrificing frame rates without sacrificing higher resolutions.
With the Nvidia RTX 3090 under the hood, the Omen 30L benefits from 24 GB of GDDR6X video RAM, PCIe Gen 4 support and DLSS of the GPU. According to HP, instead of using the standard RTX 3090 card design, the company will opt for a custom HP Triple Axial Fan design in a more compact form with 2.5 slots compared to the Nvidia Triple Slot format. At a press conference prior to the unveiling of the Omen 30L, HP executives claimed that this custom design will provide better cooling. HP claims that the performance is up to 1.5 times faster than that of the Turing-based Titan RTX.
If you do not need the full performance of the RTX 3090, you can fall back on configurations with the GeForce RTX 3080 or the RTX 3070. When Nvidia first introduced these graphics cards, CEO Jensen Huang claimed that the RTX 3080 offers twice the performance of the RTX 2080, while the RTX 3070 is more powerful than the previous generation’s flagship RTX 2080 Ti GPU. The configurations of the Omen 30L with RTX 3080 also feature HP’s custom card design that allows 4K games to be played at 60 fps.
“It’s incredibly important to provide the best possible gaming experience,” said Matt Wuebbling, vice president of GeForce Marketing at Nvidia, in a prepared statement. “That’s why we’re excited to see HP add Nvidia GeForce RTX 30-series desktop GPUs to the Omen 30L.”
Pricing and exact configurations for the desktop weren’t immediately available, although HP said the Omen 30L will be available on vacation.
Wireless gaming accessories
In addition to introducing the Omen 30L, HP also unveiled a number of wireless gaming peripherals, including the Omen Vector Wireless Mouse for $ 99, the Omen Spacer Wireless TLK Keyboard for $ 159, and the Omen Blast Headphones for 79 U.S. dollar.
The Vector Wireless Mouse is the world’s fastest USB-C gaming mouse, according to HP, with a battery life of one hour on a 30-second charge.
Two monitors round off the playful range of game accessories. HP announced two 24-inch gaming monitors that will be available in October. The HP X24i is $ 229 while the HP X24ih is $ 249 at launch. These entry-level gaming monitors are equipped with IPS panels for large viewing angles and refresh rates of 144 Hz. Thanks to the support of AMD FreeSync Premium, these monitors also have a response time of 1 ms.
