The American actor Will Smith admits that he had understood nothing in the scenario of a film and having refused him when he became a colossal and critical colossal success.
At the end of the 2000s, Will Smith was a huge star, who has just turned in search of happiness (2006), I am a legend (2007), Hancock and seven lives (2008). After these very different films, he wonders what will be his next project and his next challenge? We then offer him a very ambitious blockbuster.

Christopher Nolan send him the script for a feature telling the story of a thief capable of stealing the thoughts of an individual in his subconscious. He is entrusted with a mission which will then allow him to “put himself”: that of entering the subconscious of a victim so not to steal a memory but to implant one.
Faced with this scenario, which you will have recognized as that of Inception, Will Smith finds himself really lost, as he entrusted to the radio show Kiss XTRA (via Variety):
“I do not think I have already admitted publicly what I am going to say because we say everything here: Chris Nolan had offered me first inception and I understood nothing. I had never admitted it. Now that I think about it, that is part of those films that revolve around alternative realities … They are not easy to pitch.”
Smith was not the first choice
In reality, as Variety recalls, the name Smith had already mentioned at the time of the Inception exit; It would seem that Nolan first offered the film to Brad Pitt, then to Will Smith. Faced with the latter's refusal, he would have turned to Leonardo DiCaprio, who did very well to accept, because Inception reported nearly $ 900 million for a budget of 160 million.
Instead, Smith remained without project in the cinema until 2012, the year with which he returned with Men in Black 3 then After Earth, shot with his son Jaden Smith. Currently focused on his singer career, Smith has more than one announced cinematographic project, but none whose filming is officially launched.
