Already popular as the best beach destination in the country, Goa will soon become home to India’s second largest airport After staying in Mumbai for the first time. This new airport will be built in Mopa, a district of Pernem and will make traveling to the state much easier Easy for travelers, especially those coming from coastal states like Maharashtra, Karnataka and Kerala.
According to the Civil Aviation Ministry, it will be Goa’s second airport after Dabolim, which will be able to handle around 30 million passengers annually once it becomes functional by 2020.

The news of this new development comes with the aim of making and establishing Goa as the logistics hub of India. Also, as per the latest release issued by the government, ‘A joint team of Airports Authority of India (AAI) and Department of Commerce Logistics will visit the state to facilitate the development of cargo hub at this new airport at Mopa.’ Apart from this, the government has also decided to upgrade Dabolim Airport with an investment of Rs 600 crore.
