Just over a year from its release in our rooms, “L'Odyssée” by Christopher Nolan was talked about thanks to an interview with Charlize Theron who evokes his role in the film and – especially – a first poster that raised some questions.
Christopher Nolan being the follower of the mystery that we know, a veil of doubt hovers about each of his films. Including when he adapts a story already known as that of Oppenheimer in 2023 or the Odyssey of Homer today. Just over a year from the release of the feature film, scheduled for July 15, 2026 in France, many questions still surround the project, on the roles of a good part of the casting or on … the veracity of a poster.
In recent days, a poster teaser of the Odyssey, first seen in a cinema before being shared online, circulated on the networks, without being relayed by the accounts of the film or Universal, which has made more than one internet user. But the French distributor confirmed the authenticity of the poster, which is therefore tagline “Defain the gods”which inscribes him in the line of Oppenheimer, inspired by the book “American Prometheus”whose title referred to Propsée, famous for having stolen fire on Olympus to offer it to men before being punished by Zeus.
We do not yet know exactly how this confrontation between Ulysses (Matt Damon) and the Greek deities will materialize on the screen, in this story which tells the long return of the first to his island of Ithaca, after the Trojan War, and perhaps a teaser, which we hope close to us, will give us some clues. On the approach of Christopher Nolan or the characters played by the members of his casting, once again impressive, where Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron, Elliot Page, Lupita Nyong'o, Jon Bernthal or Benny Safdie will meet.
Charlize Theron in the role of Circé?
So far, we know that Matt Damon will play Ulysses and Tom Holland his Télémaque son, but the rest is only assumption, when we speak, for example, of Anne Hathaway in Penelope or Charlize Theron in Circé. Questioned on this subject by Varietythe latter has obviously confirmed that she was going to play the role to which everyone associates her, insofar as she does not correct the interviewer who asks her how we prepare to embody the goddess of witchcraft (who transforms a good part of the hero's crew in pigs).
“I don't know, I'm going to chat with Chris and we'll see where it leads us”she replied before clarifying that she had not yet started shooting her scenes. “It's super intimidating. I'm the last to point so I will be the little news that doesn't really know what it does unlike others around me.”
Filming to the four corners of the world
In filming to the four corners of the world (from Los Angeles to Iceland via Morocco, Greece or Sicily), the Odyssey should see its shots last until July or August of this year, which is not very surprising when you know the extent of the history of Homer's classic and the will of Christopher Nolan, winner of two Oscars on a personal basis thanks to Ocpenheimer, Favor reality when filming in the studio. Hoping to discover images as soon as possible now.
