Philippe Mechelen et Julien Herve sought an actor who would be ‘a bit of a good guy and a bit of a strong guy, and with a look that’s full of sympathy’. They thought of Kad Merad: ‘We thought: have you seen his eyes? Do you know what’s in them? Humanity, tenderness… in short, we were fans!
