The Oscars are better known as the Academy Awards. This is an annual event at which 25 awards are handed out. They span the gamut from artistic to technical brilliance. The awards ceremony is the end product of months of research and voting conducted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Members of the Academy who are eligible to vote cast their ballots and decide the ultimate winners. There are about 8,000 members with voting privileges.

Gigi Hadid, a model and social media sensation, has worked with top fashion brands and designers like Tom Ford since her school days. At the 2015 amfAR gala, she wore a white dress that was designed by the aforementioned brand. Hadid’s white dress had a rectangular cutout at the front that stretched from under her halter down to her midsection. Her dress was a slim fit that didn’t have the usual red carpet flaring train, and it also had a leg slit that went up to her left thigh. She wore this dress with jewelry from Vita Fede and a pair of heels from Aquazzura.

The Russian model, who’s also one of soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo’s ex-lovers, shocked everyone at the Vanity Fair Oscar afterparty. She arrived half-naked, and we say that because of a very major detail in the design of her dress: It was made up of black fabric on one side that covered only the bare essentials, while the other side was made of a stocking-like mesh. With this Atelier Versace dress, she wore unassuming black heels and no jewelry at all.

This Julien Macdonald dress was mostly made up of a mesh-like fabric that had cuts and a slit that looked perfect on Lopez’s well-toned body. She wore gold Jimmy Choo heels with this dress and had her makeup done by Scott Barnes.

Ashley Graham, who’s continuously opening doors for larger-sized models by modeling for big brands like Vogue, wore a stunning dress to an event in 2016. She walked the red carpet at the GQ Men of the Year Awards in a black Tadashi Shoji dress that had a lacy top and a thigh-high leg slit. According to the Tadashi Shoji website, Graham’s dress was a revamped version of their Riley Gown. The only difference between Graham’s dress and the Riley Gown is that her dress was sleeveless, its leg slit was more to her right side and it had a lower neckline.

Her Zuhair Murad dress had silver beads lying on a bed of black fabric with a neckline that stopped just under her breasts. Vergara was wearing heels designed by Brian Atwood when she arrived at the Beverly Hilton Hotel for the afterparty celebration with her son and then-fiance Nick Loeb.

She attended the Warner Bros. and InStyle afterparty clad in a silky yellow dress. Her Reem Acra gown featured a beaded detail on her back that went to her halter and then ran down the middle of the front part of her dress. Even though her dress looked pretty, it also embarrassed her in front of the cameras. This dress had a slit in the middle that she had planned to use to show off her legs, but in doing so, she ended up revealing a whole lot more.
