Three years after its launch on Netflix – and its uncertain renewal – Sandman returns for a final season 2, still carried by Tom Sturridge. It is now time to join Morpheus (or Dream) in a new phantasmagorical trip with the six episodes that make up volume 1 today, followed by volume 2 (five episodes) on July 24.
“The Sandman series has always been exclusively centered on the history of Dream, and in 2022, when we took stock of what was to say on Dream in the comics, we knew that we only had enough history for an additional season,” said showrunner Allan heinberg in Tudum. “”We are extremely grateful to Netflix to have gathered the team and give us the time and the resources necessary to make a faithful adaptation in a way which, we hope, will surprise and delight the faithful readers of the comics as well as the fans of our series.“”
What is Sandman season 2 talking about?
At the end of season 1, Dream eliminated the Corinthian, and destroyed the vortex which threatened to engulf his kingdom and our universe. Meanwhile, in hell, Lucifer and Mazikeen prepared their revenge against Dream for having publicly embarrassed them. Finally, in a bonus episode, Dream helps his wife, the Calliope muse, with whom he had blurred about the fate of their son, Orpheus.
Season 2 begins a few weeks later. After more than a century of absence from the world of dreams, Dream restored and rebuilt his kingdom. As he transforms the palace, he makes the wish to leave the past behind him and turn to the future. The past, of course, has other ideas.
A series of challenges presents itself to him. Without saying too much, he will have again in Lucifer, he will have to assume an unforgivable decision with his first love, but also to resolve the impossible with his son, Orpheus.

The infinite family of season 1 will be back, with Kirby Howell-Baptiste in the role of death, Mason Alexander Park in that of desire, and gave Preston in that of despair. Season 2 will also introduce Dream's other mysterious brothers and sisters.
