This incredible story and, let's face it, quite joyful, is that of the Netflix Sense8 series by Lana and Lilly Wachowski, the duo behind the matrix saga. Unique in its kind, the show, humanist and rich in emotions, features eight characters living in the four corners of the globe and who each have an exciting identity. One day, connected by a violent vision, they find themselves linked.
From its launch in 2015, Sense8 was loved by fans, the spectators of Allociné awarding it an average note of 4.3 out of 5. But on June 1, 2017, it is the drama: Netflix announces the cancellation of the series a few weeks after the online of the second season. Reason mentioned: too expensive production and profitability deemed insufficient.
For Sense8 fans, it's a real blow. With the cliffhanger of the end of season 2, it is impossible to imagine that history ends thus. Many distraught afficionados then decide to mobilize massively, demanding from Netflix a real end to the show. And yet, on June 29, 2017, barely a month after the announcement of the cancellation, the miracle occurred: Lana Wachowski announced that following the massive mobilization of Sense8 fans, Netflix agreed to produce a conclusion to the series in the form of a special two -hour episode, which will be broadcast on June 8, 2018.
“In this world, it is easy to believe that you cannot make a difference. That when a government, an institution or a company makes a decision, it is irrevocable. That love is always less important than the end result”said Lana Wachowski in a posted letter On the Twitter site of Sense8. “But here is a gift from fans of this series that I will carry forever in my heart: it is true that, sometimes, these decisions are irrevocable, but not always.”
And Lana Wachowski to conclude, not without pride: “In an unlikely and unpredictable way, your love has brought back Sense8 to life. I could kiss each of you for that.”
