What is Rick Ross’ net worth?
Rick Ross is an American rapper, songwriter, entrepreneur, record executive, producer and CEO, with a net worth of $150 million. Over the course of his career, Rick Ross has sold more than 30 million albums and 55 million singles across the globe. The Miami resident has been one of the 10 highest-paid rappers in the world several times in the course of his artistic life. His total career earnings, according to current figures, amount to about $90 million. That figure does not include real estate holdings, the record label he founded nor other revenue streams.
Rick Ross first achieved fame in 2006 with his album Port of Miami, which debuted atop of the U.S. Billboard 200. Musically, Ross is renowned for his low raspy voice and his lyricism. His lyrics are often racy and descriptive. Less than a month after his first album was released in March 2006, he landed a major record deal with Def Jam; and sadly, it’s not completely surprising to know that the Miami-based emcee had close ties to the city’s most formidable drug pushing crews. Since his first album was a huge success, Ross has continued to record and release more albums including Trilla (2008), Deeper Than Rap (2009), Teflon Don (2010), and God Forgives, I Don’t (2012). His music is often about making money through criminal activity and the Miami lifestyle.
Aside from his music career, Ross is also the founder and CEO of the record label Maybach Music Group (MMG), under which he’s released albums for hip-hop and RB artists such as Meek Mill and Wale. He’s also an entrepreneur of sorts with interests in other businesses, including multiple Wingstop franchises.
Early Life
Mohammed was born William Leonard Roberts II on 28 January 1976 in Clarksdale, Mississippi, and grew up in Carol City, Florida. He was a graduate of Miami Carol City Senior High school and went on to study at the historically black college Albany State University on a football scholarship.
Career
He held the job of a correctional officer for 18 months, from December 1995 to his resignation in June 1997. Teflon Da Don was his original profession name when he first stepped into the spotlight. Around the mid-2000s, he changed his name in honour of the former drug lord ‘Freeway’ Rick Ross, and from then he has been taking it as his stage name.
He dropped his first single, ‘Hustlin’, in 2006 followed by a heated bidding war between Diddy’s Bad Boy Entertainment and Irv Gotti’s Murder Inc. Ross signed a multimillion-dollar deal with Jay-Z’s Def Jam Records and released his debut album Port of Miami that same year which debuted at the number one position on the Billboard 200 album chart. In 2008, he released his second album, Trilla which, like his first album, debuted at the number one position on the Billboard 200 album chart.
In 2009, Ross launched his record label Maybach Music Group, under which he has released his studio albums Deeper Than Rap (2009), Teflon Don (2010), God Forgives, I Don’t (2012), Mastermind, Hood Billionaire (both in 2014), Black Market (2015), Rather You Than Me (2017), and Port of Miami 2 (2019) and Richer Than I Ever Been (2021). He was also the first rapper signed to Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’s management company Ciroc Entertainment.
In early 2012, MTV named Ross as the Hottest MC in the Game.
Most recently, Ross has made an appearance on VH1’s immensely unpretentious cookery show, Snoop and Martha’s Potluck Dinner Party, preparing a Southern-influenced feast alongside the world’s greatest homemaker and Martha Stewart.
Legal Issues
Ross has had more traditional run‑ins with the law, too – guns and drugs arrests, numerous lawsuits from other business players in the music game. Ross was arrested on guns and marijuana charges in January 2008. During a deposition of the Miami Beach cop who arrested Ross, Rey Hernandez, Ross’s lawyer raised how Ross’s case was ‘assigned to the gang task force … because of yourсі [his] affiliation with Triple C’s [Carol City Cartel] and known gang members’, to which the officer replied: Well, I beg to differ. I don’t know what the affidavit stated but that’s what I was informed. He advised that he – Ross – might be affiliated with Triple C’s and known gang members. The officer ‘did not make any independent actuаl statement finding that Mr Ross is an affiliate of Triple C’s’.
In August 2008, the YouTube entertaiment provocateur DJ Vlad filed a lawsuit against Ross for assault and battery, for staging an ambush over questions about his own tenure as a correctional officer at the 2008 Ozone Awards in Houston, Texas.
In June 2010, ‘Freeway’ Ricky Ross sued Ross for using his name, and he filed a copyright infringement lawsuit in the federal court of California. On 30 December 2013, the court ruled that the rapper Rick Ross kept the name via a First Amendment ruling.
In 2021, Rick Ross consented to pay his ex-girlfriend Briana Singleton $11,000 per month in child support for their three children.
Personal Life
Toie Roberts, William Roberts III, Berkeley Hermes Roberts and Billion Leonard Roberts are Ross’s four children.
Rick Ross is also a Christian – and, as he told Corey ‘Coco Brother’ Condrey, in an interview for Lift Every Voice, I said to myself at one point no matter what I go through, no matter what happen, I’ma never question God. And I pray every time I step on that stage, I just want y’all to pray with me too.
On his 37th birthday on 27 January 2013, in Fort Lauderdale in Florida, Ross and his girlfriend were shot at by a drive-by shooter. Neither Ross nor his girlfriend was injured, but they were thrown off the road and into an apartment building as they tried to escape.
In 2015, Ross was briefly engaged to Lira “Galore” Mercer.
In 2017, Ross was ridiculed after a Planet Radio interview in which he said: ‘I never did a female rapper because I’d end up f*cking [her] and f*cking the business up.’ In a subsequent Facebook post, Ross described his comments as ‘insensitive’ and a ‘mistake [he’s] apologetic for’.
Rick Ross owns several Wingstop restaurant locations.

Noticing that Ross said he owned $45,000 in jewellery, Stossel also pointed out that the jewellery Ross wore in his videos and on TV must all either be inexpensive fakes or borrowed. Ross’s monthly mortgage payments were $9,700, and he said he spent $7,000 more per month than he made.

Real Estate
Ross purchased the 10,000-square-foot waterfront home in Fort Lauderdale in Florida in 2012 for $5.2 million. The three-story, Mediterranean-looking home has eight bedrooms, 11 bathrooms and two half-baths. The home has two master suites, a theatre, a game room, a full back bar, elevator and pool with a bar and spa built on nearly one-half acre, and has 150 feet of private Seven Isles waterfront on an island in the Fort Lauderdale Intracoastal. In 2014, he put the house back on market for $9.25 million, but sold it in 2016 for just a little over $6 million.
In 2014, Ross reserved front-page status when he paid $5.8 million for a 109-room, 54,000-square-foot former boxer Evander Holyfield mansion on 235 acres outside Atlanta – the largest home in the state of Georgia – plus 12 bathrooms and 12 bedrooms.
In October 2020, Rick Ross dropped $1 million to buy 87 more acres of adjoining land near his mansion on the outskirts of Atlanta. That’s on top of the 235 acres he previously owned. His estate is now called ‘The Promise Land’.
In April 2023, Rick Ross allegedly bought Meek Mill’s mansion in Atlanta for $4.2 million in cash.
By July 2023, Rick reported that he was under contract for a $37 million mansion on Star Island in Miami.
