It’s been a busy year for Samsung. In the beginning of 2023, the company launched its Galaxy S23 series. And last summer, we got the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5 – two of the best folding phones of the year. However, it is never too early to guess the company’s next lineup of smartphones. If Samsung sticks to its previous calendar schedule, we can expect to see the Galaxy S24, S24 Plus, and S24 Ultra announced in early 2024.
What can we expect from these phones in terms of their specs, design, price and more? Let’s take a look at everything we know (so far) about the Samsung Galaxy S24.
Samsung Galaxy S24: release date
There is no official date for when Samsung plans to announce its latest Galaxy smartphones. However, recent history suggests that the new Galaxy S24 handsets will be announced in January or February 2024.
In 2023, Samsung announced the Galaxy S23 series on February 1, with a release date of February 17. The Galaxy S22 series was launched on February 9, with a release date of February 25. In 2021, the Galaxy S21 series was announced on January 14, with a release date of January 29.
The new smartphone will undoubtedly be announced at Samsung’s signature Galaxy Unpacked event.
Samsung Galaxy S24: price
Prices for Samsung’s Galaxy handsets have remained mostly stable in recent years, with the entry-level S23 model starting at $800 in the US, the S23 Plus model starting at $1,000, and the S23 Ultra model starting around $1,200. Begins.
We haven’t heard anything about the price of the Galaxy S24 yet. For now, it’s probably best to assume that prices will be similar to the previous model. Of course, Samsung and the carriers offer trade-in deals and financing options, which can bring prices down.
Samsung Galaxy S24: Design
Some rumors in recent months have revealed that there will be some changes on the design front of the S24 series. In September, SmartPrix (in collaboration with @OnLeaks) shared alleged renders showing the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Ultra. We also received Galaxy S24 Plus renders from GizNext in early October.
If the renders are correct, we will see a flat screen this time, with no curved edges like previous generations. Since there is no curved glass anymore, always expect thinner bezels, with the Galaxy S24 Ultra possibly having the thinnest bezels ever for a Samsung smartphone. Samsung Galaxy S24: specs
We’ve seen some other key specifications leaked about next year’s phones. When talking about specifications and rumors, it’s always important to keep in mind that there may be some variation from actual specifications, especially so far away from their release. However, as we get closer to the big reveal, real specifications should emerge.
On X, formerly Twitter, Ice Universe noted The Galaxy S24 Ultra is tipped to feature a 6.8-inch WQHD display with 1440p resolution. Instead of the 1,750 nits maximum brightness found on the S23 Ultra, the S24 Ultra can max out at 2,500 nits.
Ice Universe says that the S24 Plus may feature a 6.7-inch WQHD display for the first time. The S24 is expected to feature a 6.2-inch FHD display. In August, the same leaker said “yes” to the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus Features of LTPO Screen, Note that these are larger screens than the 6.1-inch S23 and 6.6-inch S23 Plus.
One of the biggest surprises about the S23 series is that Samsung hasn’t used its Exynos chipset in any of the models. Instead, it used the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip across the board. Samsung Galaxy S24: cameras
On the camera front, all the rumors so far relate to the S24 Ultra. Like the previous model, this phone should once again have a 200MP main camera and a 12MP ultrawide camera. However, there may be changes with the telephoto lens of the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
For the past few years, the Ultra has had two 10MP cameras with 3x and 10x zoom. 3x zoom camera, according to ice universe, is likely to remain at 10MP. However, this time the maximum zoom may drop to 5x, but with a significantly higher 50MP sensor resolution. Although this may seem like a downgrade, it won’t be due to the improved resolution.
Samsung Galaxy S24: Battery

According to Dutch news outlets The Galaxy Club, the Galaxy S24, will have a 4,000 mAh battery, matching the one used in the Galaxy S21. The Galaxy S22 and S23 pack a 3,700 mAh and 3,900 mAh battery respectively.
On the S24 Plus, we can see a 4,900 mAh battery, which compares very well to the S23 Plus’s 4,700 mAh cell. Meanwhile, rumors suggest that the S24 Ultra will remain at 5,000 mAh.
Samsung Galaxy S24: Software and updates
Finally, when it comes to software, the entire Galaxy S24 series should be launched Android 14 comes preinstalled with either Samsung One UI 6 or 6.1. The Android 14 update has just started rolling out for the S23 series.
It will be interesting to see how many years of Android updates Samsung will promise for the S24. For the Galaxy S23, Samsung offers a respectable four years of Android updates.
