Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 Release Date
Most major tech companies, like Samsung, generally release major products at regular intervals. Samsung has traditionally launched smartwatches alongside foldable devices from its Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip series for Galaxy Watch releases.

Samsung first unveiled their Galaxy Watch 4 series on August 11, 2021 and began selling them August 27 of that year. A year later they unveiled the 5 series on August 10 and it went on sale August 26, 2022; and most recently they unveiled and began selling the 6 series on July 26, 2023; becoming available to buy August 11 of 2023.

This year could bring us early looks at Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 7 series. According to reports, their next Galaxy Unpacked event–where both Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 models will also be revealed–will take place on Wednesday July 10.

Samsung may have planned the earlier announcement and release of their Galaxy Unpacked event ahead of the 2024 Summer Olympic games to capitalize on them as marketing tools. Starting on July 26th 2024 in Paris France will host this sporting event and it is believed that they want to use this as an opportunity for brand promotion and sales.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 Price Overview.

Joe Maring / Digital Trends

Samsung should keep prices consistent across their phones and smartwatches with only minor fluctuations expected, much as other major brands typically adhere to this practice. We should see them adhering to this practice with future products they release.

Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 6 series starts at $300 for its 40mm Wi-Fi-only variant; adding 4G/LTE connectivity will cost an extra $50, making this total $350. However, for 43mm models of this watch (The Classic model costs $400).

Samsung is expected to maintain the $300 price point for their Galaxy Watch 7 model while their Galaxy Watch Ultra could retail at roughly $700.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 7: design

Initial reports suggested Samsung may return to using rectangular displays on their Galaxy Gear smartwatch from 2013, however that appears not be the case anymore; we expect 40mm and 44mm models similar to what were found with Galaxy Watch 6.

No leaked renders of the Galaxy Watch 7 have surfaced yet, so we don’t yet know whether Samsung plans any drastic redesign. From what we have heard though, based on leaks alone it appears likely we could see something with similar design characteristics as the current smartwatch model – possibly something along these lines of what was seen with Galaxy Watch 6.

Even without major visual upgrades, we still have cause to celebrate with Samsung Galaxy Watch 7. We believe its processor power may have seen significant increases this time around.

Korea Economic Daily reports that Samsung will equip their next watch with the Exynos W1000 chip, offering up to 20% increases in performance and power efficiency compared to a 5nm chip used by Apple Watch Series 9. Such improvements provide better battery life – always welcome news!

Expectedly, new watches could charge 50% faster than current Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Watch 6 Classic models, up to 15 watts charging speed.

On the colors front, regular Galaxy Watch 7s should come with either Marbal Gray, Cream white and Forest Green options.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 software and updates

Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 6 currently sports Wear OS 4 with their One UI Watch 5.0 interface, so we should anticipate its successor will feature Wear OS 5 and One UI Watch 6.0 software updates.

Samsung generally commits to four years of software updates for their Galaxy Watches lineup, although we believe this could possibly extend up to seven based on Samsung’s commitment with regard to its Galaxy S24 series phones. But that is just speculation on our part!

Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 Battery and Charging Process.

As soon as we tested the Galaxy Watch 6 and 6 Classic watches, we were taken aback at their impressive battery life. On average, these watches lasted approximately one and half to two days of usage before needing charging again.

According to our observations, the Galaxy Watch 7 should offer increased battery life as the Exynos W1000 chip should be more power efficient. Though we’re uncertain whether that means multiple days without needing a charge before needing one again is also something we hope happens!
