SSC CGL 2024 Notification on 24 June, Exam Date, Online Form, Eligibility

SSC CGL 2024- Important Dates

What is SSC CGL Exam?

The full form SSC CGL exam is Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduated Level Examination. It is the most popular national-level examination for graduate candidates in India. SSC CGL exam is is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission for the recruitment of Group “B” and Group “C” category posts in various government ministries, departments, and offices like CBI, Income Tax etc. It is a multi-tiered online exam, typically consisting of 2 stages, Tier 1 and Tier 2. Staff Selection Commission will conduct the complete recruitment process for SSC CGL posts.

SSC CGL Vacancy 2024

For the coming year, it is expected that more than 7000 vacancies can be released. The detailed notification for the SSC CGL exam 2024 will be released on the new official website of SSC, https://ssc.gov.in/.

Last year, 8415 vacancies were released for Group B and C posts and previous to that 37,409 vacancies were released which was the maximum of the last 7 years. Candidates can check the year-wise vacancy comparison from 2017 to 2024.

SSC CGL Eligibility Criteria

Not everyone can appear in the SSC CGL Exam, as the commission has set parameters for minimum eligibility criteria including education qualifications, age limit, and nationality. As per the last year’s notification, the eligibility criteria is as follows-

1. Education Qualification

  • For Assistant Audit Officer/Assistant Accounts Officer- Bachelor’s Degree in any subject from a recognized University and CA/CS/MBA/Cost &  Management Accountant/ Masters in Commerce/ Masters in Business Studies.
  • For Junior Statistical Officer (JSO)- Bachelor’s Degree from any recognized University with a minimum 60% in Mathematics in Class 12th
    or in any discipline with Statistics as one of the subjects in graduation.
  • For Statistical Investigator Grade-II- Graduation Degree from any recognized University with Economics Statistics or Mathematics as a compulsory or Elective Subject.
  • For Research Assistant in National Human Rights Commission (NHRC)- Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or Institute with a minimum one year research experience in any recognized university or recognized Research Institution.
  • For Remaining posts- Bachelor’s Degree in any subject from a recognized University.

3. Nationality- A candidate must be a citizen/subject of either India/Nepal/Bhutan/a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam to permanently settle in India.

SSC CGL Selection Process 2024

Two years ago, SSC revised the selection process, and now only two-tier exams will be conducted to shortlist candidates for various Group B and C posts under the SSC CGL Notification 2024. SSC CGL 2024 Examination will be conducted in four tiers as indicated below:

Stage 1 Tier-I: Computer-Based Examination (Qualifying in nature).

Stage 2 Tier-II: Paper I (Compulsory for all posts), Paper II for candidates who apply for the posts of Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) in the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation and Paper III for candidates who apply for the posts of Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer.

• All candidates who have applied successfully for the SSC CGL exam, will be assigned Roll numbers and Admit Cards for appearing in the Computer-Based Examination (Tier-I).

• Based on the marks scored in Tier-I, candidates will be shortlisted, category-wise, to appear in Tier-II and Tier-III Examinations.

• Separate cut-offs will be released separately for Paper-II of Tier-II (i.e. for the post of Junior Statistical Officer (JSO), Paper-III of Tier-II (i.e. for the posts of Assistant Audit Officer and Assistant Accounts Officer) and for Paper-I of Tier-II (i.e. for all other posts).

• Tier-II Examinations will be conducted for all the candidates qualified in Tier-I.

• In Tier II, all the candidates will be required to appear in Paper-I, II and Paper-III. However, only specific candidates shortlisted for the posts of Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) and Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer will be required to appear in Paper-II and Paper-III respectively.

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has revised the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Exam pattern. The Examination will be conducted in 2 tiers as indicated below:

SSC CGL Result and Cut-Off Marks

Staff Selection Commission releases results for each stage on the official website www.ssc.gov.in. This year, there will be 2 tier selection process and Tier 1 will be qualifying in nature. SSC CGL Tier 1 Result will be released announcing the names & roll numbers of the candidates qualifying to appear for the Tier 2 Exam. The final result will be prepared based on marks scored by the candidates in the SSC CGL 2024 Tier 2 Exam only.
