“They would never want to show that”: for Stallone, it's her best action film!

Sylvester Stallone reveals what, according to him, is his best action film – and this choice could surprise since it is a film for which he was very criticized …

During an interview with Hollywood Reporter in 2022, Sylvester Stallone confided in the action film which he considers the best of his entire career. An opinion that we are curious to know, as the actor has marked the genre for decades.

Essential star of action cinema, Sylvester Stallone chained mythical roles in franchises like Rocky, Rambo or Expendables, or even in the movies Demolition Man and Judge Dredd. But among all these muscular works, he chose to highlight a relatively recent film, the one that is most close to his heart: John Rambo, the fourth opus devoted to the Vietnam War veteran which he himself produced and co-written.

In this interview, Stallone explained why this feature film released in 2008 represents his best work in the genre for him. According to him, it is the most authentic film, because it forcefully portrays a dark and difficult reality, that of the civil war in Burma, a conflict that has lasted for more than six decades.

“” “One of my films of which I am really proud, which I consider as my best action film because it is the one that is the most true, it is John Rambo, who addresses what is happening in Burma, where there is a civil war for 67 years“He explained.

A real brutality

Sylvester Stallone insists that the brutality of this film is not free: “I was very criticized because the film is violent. But it's violent. It's horrible. They are children burned alive. This is what makes civil war worse than everything: it is your neighbor, all of a sudden, who kills you.»

Finally, the actor says he was proud to have been able to bring this project to the screen, despite the initial doubts: “I was really happy with this film and I would never have imagined that he would one day arrive at the cinema. I told myself that they would never want to show that.»
