In the early 90s, as part of the legendary “Surprise sur Ta taking” program, Thierry Lhermitte was trapped by Marcel Béliveau and his teams in a video that remains today an absolutely legendary television moment.
We are in the early 90s. Thierry Lhermitte is already a particularly appreciated French actor thanks to multiple popular successes such as the Bronzes, Santa Claus is a jack, the Ripoux or an Indian in the city.
“Thierry? I’m not bothering you?”
One evening, while watching a football match at his home with a few friends, his phone rings. On the other end of the line, one of his best friends, the actor Richard Guerry:
“Thierry? I’m not bothering you? I’m at the Parc des Princes, there. There is a show at halftime, I’m going to try to do something and go on TV.”
The amused air, Lhermitte then crashes in front of her television post, curious to know what his friend is preparing for him. It is up to light years to suspect what awaits him, because the trap by Marcel Béliveau (designer of the legendary program Surprise Consisting in trapping stars in hidden cameras) has just closed on him.
In the minutes that follow, Thierry Lhermitte – who is actually looking at a montage specially recorded for him, and not a live match – observes, Hilare, his friend Richard Guerry incorporating a number of Brazilian dancers.

But the show is far from over. By taking good care to recall his friend between each intervention, Richard continues his “coup de radiance” by inviting himself to the field, dressed in an official jersey, and by scoring a goal, triggering the amazement of Thierry Roland, before being accompanied outside the stadium.
We can then see him answer the questions of journalists: “My name is Richard Guerry. Why did I do that? Listen, it’s a little bit because of Thierry Lhermitte that I did this”he said before his third and last feat. This time, it is naked as a worm that it comes back to the field, climbing on the transverse bar of goals before shouting to Thierry Lhermitte that he has just trapped him.
The result? An anthology video that is among the most incredible moments of Surpriseand that we always take so much pleasure in rediscovering even 30 years later.
