TNPSC Group 2 Exam Date 2024


The TNPSC conducts the Group 2 Exam to recruit candidates for various government positions in the state. This exam offers a gateway to both Interview and Non-Interview posts within Group-II Services. The selection process differs based on the chosen position, with Interview Posts requiring three stages and Non-Interview Posts requiring two. The upcoming TNPSC Group 2 and 2A Combined Civil Services Preliminary Examination will be held on 28th September 2024 in offline mode.

TNPSC Group 2 Selection Process

The selection process for the TNPSC Group 2 Exam is comprehensive, comprising three distinct stages to ensure thorough evaluation of candidates’ skills and capabilities. Firstly, candidates must clear the Preliminary Exam, which is objective in nature, serving as the initial screening phase. Candidates who successfully navigate through this stage advance to the Mains Exam, where they encounter descriptive questions designed to assess their comprehensive understanding of the subjects covered. Finally, candidates who qualify in the Mains Exam proceed to the interview, where their communication skills, subject knowledge, and overall suitability are assessed. This multi-stage selection process aims to identify the most competent and qualified candidates.

TNPSC Group 2 Exam Pattern

The TNPSC Group 2 exam has undergone changes with the introduction of the Tamil Language Eligibility Test in the preliminary exam. Now, candidates face a choice between 100 multiple-choice questions testing their knowledge of Tamil or opting for the General English section instead. These questions are based on SSLC standards. You get 3 hours to finish the exam, and you need at least 90 marks to pass the prelims and move on to the next stages. In total, there are 200 questions worth 300 marks in the exam.
