In 2009, a year after the Triumph of Bienvenue at Les Ch'tis, Dany Boon was passing in front of Danièle Thompson's camera in comedy The code changed. The actor replied there to a pretty skewers of actors, from Karin Viard to Pierre Arditi via Marina Foïs, Patrick Bruel, Patrick Chesnais or Laurent Stocker.
The story takes place on June 21, in Paris. As every year, a group of friends meets for a dinner on the occasion of the Music Festival. This time, it is Piotr (Dany Boon), on sabbatical leave and husband of Marie-Laurence Claverne (Karin Viard), a lawyer who is overworked specializing in divorces, who is responsible for the organization.
But this edition of the dinner does not look like the previous ones. The atmosphere has changed: we finished with the pretenses, the varnish of good humor, the jokes to hide the anxiety or the smiles to stifle the sorrows. The tensions are riding: Lucas Mattei (Christopher Thompson), a renowned lawyer, argues violently with his wife Sarah (Emmanuelle Seigner).
Mélanie Carcassonne (Marina Foïs), gynecologist, chooses this moment to reveal to her husband Alain (Patrick Bruel), cancerologist, whom she maintains a link with a jockey. Juliette (Marina Hands), Marie-Laurence's sister, arrives accompanied by her new companion, Erwann (Patrick Chesnais), 30 years older. And to top it all, their father Henri (Pierre Arditi) makes an unexpected appearance! It is a shock, especially for Juliette, who has not sent her the floor for 2 years.
A wacky comedy
A delusional comedy carried by a high -flying cast, the code has changed is a delightful work, ultimately quite unknown and unjustly forgotten. When it was released in February 2009, the film had a nice success, bringing together 1.6 million spectators in the cinema.
It was just before the outlet of orchestra armchairs that Danièle Thompson had the idea of the code changed. The director wrote the script for the film with her son, Christopher Thompson.
“There was this idea that by arriving at a dinner, we pretend to go well because there is an appearance politeness. The starting point was to imagine what is happening behind the scenes of an evening with friends. We all arrive with luggage that we put aside to preserve appearances, to make the moment bearable … and we end up believing in it”explained the screenwriter.
The funniest scene in the film
The comedy contains a memorable sequence, undoubtedly one of the most striking of the 2000s, that of dinner. It was filmed in 4 weeks. It was therefore necessary that the 10 actors (apart from Pierre Arditi, who arrived later) were all gathered at the same time.
“It was technically very complicated to settle with everyone's imperatives. Especially since five actors were every night in the theater”said Danièle Thompson. “We stayed a month in this house, around this table. We worked a lot but we also laughed enormously. Beyond our differences, there was a osmosis, a spirit of troop and solidarity between each other”said Christopher Thompson.
