Tonight on Netflix: this science fiction film is one of the most impressive in recent years, but many spectators have understood absolutely nothing

Unanimously considered by fans as the most complicated film by Christopher Nolan, “Tenet” is an experience certainly demanding but absolutely unique to live with friends on Netflix.

Nicknamed “the protagonist”, a CIA agent whose true identity remains unknown must carry out an infiltration mission in an opera of kyiv: during a hostage -taking, he will have to seize a mysterious object. During the operation, he was saved in a very strange way by a masked stranger who pulled an “inverted ball”.

Recruited for another mission, he is given a word (Tenet, which is a palindrome) and a distinctive sign. But it may well be that the fate of the whole world depends on this new operation.

A cinematographic palindrome

Let's not go there by four paths: in the rich and complex filmography of Christopher Nolan, the enigmatic Tenet is without the slightest doubt the most demanding and ambitious work, scriptwriting speaking.

After having played repeatedly with the notions of time (for example between the different dreams of Inception of Inception or the various planets of Interstellar), the British filmmaker passes to a completely different level by making his 11th feature no longer a journey through time, but a temporal reversal and even, as incredible as it may seem, a real cinematographic palindrome.

Nolan's most complicated film

In order not to reveal the particular outcome of this film like no other and not to get lost in too complicated explanations, we will stop there on the presentation of Tenet, simply specifying that if you had the intention of spending a relaxing evening with friends without the slightest headache, you might be better to go your way.

On the other hand, if the puzzles, the knots in the brain and the labyrinthine scenarios do not scare you, if you think that the more a nolan feature film, the better it is, if you like to watch a film with a pencil and a notebook in hand, Tenet is definitely the show you need!

Perhaps (no doubt) you will need several views to grasp the smallest subtleties, but if you feel attacking to take up the challenge, it happens on Netflix.
