Every day, Allociné recommends a film to (re) see on TV. Tonight: if you like realistic combat scenes and frantic races, you will take full eyes!
Want a good action film written by Luc Besson? That’s good, this is precisely the case of suburbs 13 – Ultimatum, the direct suburb of the suburbs of Pierre Morel. Director Patrick Alessandrin (known for his comedies August 15 and bad spirit) attacks this second part.
Suburb 13, two years later. The government has changed, the rest no. Now, traffic is divided between five ethnic districts, each led by a formidable gang leader. More determined than ever to “solve the problem”, the secret services voluntarily set fire to the powder.
Damien (Cyril Raffaelli), cop expert in martial arts, and Leïto (David Belle), capable of sneaking in the smallest corners of the suburbs, team again. Their objective: to save the city of Chaos. Their program: muscular fighting and chase defying the laws of gravity.
In the casting, we therefore find the duo Raffaelli–Belleolbut also Philippe Torreton (presumed guilty) in the shoes of the President of the Republic, Daniel Duval (36 quay of the goldsmiths) who lends his features to the boss of the Diss (secret independent and special) Walter Gassman, but also Élodie Yung (the Blues: First steps in the police), or Mc Jean Gab’1 (Suburbs 13).
Even more action, waterfalls and chases!
Suburb 13 – Ultimatum is proof that French cinema has nothing to envy in Hollywood in terms of action, as demonstrated by these comments published on Allociné:
“”Once again a very great reference among French action films“(CC2)
“”100 for 100 adrenaline action, crazy fights, choreographies with mastery, daring camera movements, dynamic editing“(Eric C.)
“”The quality of French action films dates back a hundred an hour. Not a big film, a great action film. Stunning“(Darkdillinger)
In order to bring more realism to this breathtaking film, each decor was designed according to the cascades provided. Result, the chef decorator Hugues Tissandier gave to Cyril Raffaelli All the indications necessary for the success of the scenes (the height, as well as the distance between objects …).
Creation of decor, but also filming in unusual places, such as the sequence during which the character of Leïto (interpreted on the screen by the actor David Belle) is continued by SUV members in the middle of a Gitan camp. It is therefore a real camp, while the extras are the real inhabitants.
Residents of the suburbs joined the casting for more realistic scenes, as the director confides Patrick Alessandrin : “I have a third of actors and two thirds of real people from the suburbs. Pure tables. It motivated me enormously for the film to see all these types of suburbs giving itself completely, and each with his universe“.
