If you want to experience some genuine English countryside, you won’t be disappointed with a trip to these locations. You’re close to the popular cities of Bristol and Bath and you can explore the stunning landscape which combines the counties of Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire, Somerset, and Wiltshire for some gorgeous views. Highlights include the Lake District National Park and many picturesque towns along the way where you can stop off for a cream tea or pub lunch.

The Derbyshire countryside has a famous driving route which is known as the Snake Pass. The A57 between Sheffield and Manchester boasts some spectacular views and you can drive through the Pennines immersed in some stunning scenery. You’ll pass through several small towns along the way, including the halfway point at the Ladybower Reservoir. You won’t be able to avoid stopping here to check out the famous Bamford Edge viewpoint.

Edinburgh

Scotland’s capital is one of the most visited cities in the UK. You can discover many historic buildings, the most popular being the 13th-century fortress Edinburgh Castle. From the castle, you can reach many of the famous attractions like the Scottish National War Museum and the Royal Palace. Make sure you visit the Royal Mile, located in the Old Town for shops, restaurants, and art galleries. Not far from the capital, you can enjoy exciting day trips to visit places like Loch Ness or the Highlands for some stunning Scottish heritage.

Ireland

If you’re up for an adventure, consider taking the Causeway Coastal Route to explore the 130-mile trip which links the cities of Belfast and Derry. You’ll see some pretty amazing sights and the view of the coast is hard to beat. Don’t forget to stop off in the town of Ballycastle where you can discover the legend of the peculiar Giant’s Causeway, a UNESCO World Heritage Site owned by the National Trust. South Wales

This part of the world has many hidden gems and is an ideal place for a rural road trip. One of the routes we recommend is The Black Mountain Pass which is located within the Brecon Beacons National Park. The 23-mile journey starts in Gwaun-Cae-Gurwen and travels through the Black Mountains to reach Llandovery. Many consider it to be the best road trip in Wales. The journey will take you through some of the most rugged and scenic landscapes in the UK and will definitely test your driving skills!
