Top 8 of the most messed up layoffs in history, the big fails

It’s never very pleasant to be fired (although sometimes when you work in a horrible company it can be good). Today we are talking to you not about the most sadistic dismissals, but about those who are simply screwed up by forgetfulness, stupidity or blindness in the face of a truly scandalous employee.

1. Amazon, which fires its best employee in the greatest of calms

Jeff Bezos’ charming little company doesn’t just file outrageous patents, it also fires employees even though they might have been voted “Employee of the Year”. This is the case of Jérémy Paglia who was dismissed in 2021 simply because he allegedly criticized the company in the context of his internal messaging. Only the truth hurts I feel.

2. This employee we forgot to fire

Oh the Post. Full of surprises. Like when she forgot for 18 years to dismiss an employee in Meurthe-et-Moselle when she had been declared unfit. As a result, the not very happy lady decided to take them to court and claim 80,000 euros. If the Post Office ends up paying it with yellow coins, I validate the valve.

3. This woman who found out she was fired when she saw her own job ad.

A wildly comical story told to us on Boredpanda. While the young woman was looking for job offers, she finds herself face to face with an advertisement which concerns exactly her current position in her current company. Like what she was rather right to get out of.

4. This English county that really has no race

We love the concept: the administration of Shropshire found it wise to fire its 6,500 employees and rehire them in the crowd to pay them less. It’s brilliant (and brilliantly right-wing) as a project, but admit that it gives us a nice messed up dismissal.

5. This factory that moved without telling the employees

Sometimes it’s just too hard to say goodbye to your employees. The easiest way is therefore not to do it and that the company OCT has understood this very well and has thus emptied its factory of all its equipment. The employees showed up like flowers the next day in front of their empty factory with a simple explanatory letter. Even I was fired better than that.

6. This guy who got fired for smelly ass

Once we told you about people who lost their jobs for stupid reasons, well there we have a winner. A winner of which it is difficult to understand how the guy did not get fired earlier by dint of dropping pearls that smell of chicken shit under the innocent nostrils of his colleagues. When we fart at work, we at least make sure it doesn’t smell.

The Paris Court of Appeal validated the dismissal of an employee who had emitted flatulence and, in the process, inappropriate comments

7. A supermarket in Tourcoing which fires a cashier for an error of 85 cents

Obviously, even if it means being an asshole, you might as well fire someone for a really rotten reason because you’re not going to play the asshole only halfway.

8. This gentleman who was fired for watching 39 hours of porn at his office

OK we don’t judge people who watch porn but damn it: 39 hours! Unless you work in a porn production company, I don’t see how it’s possible and above all it shows how much this employee didn’t care. He should have been fired between us a long time ago. (source)
