Etro has a new Creative Director, and Balenciaga shuts down the NYSE. Find these stories and more as we uncover the top international fashion news of the week.

Etro Names New Creative Director

Marco De Vincenzo is the new Creative Director of Etro. He will be in control of the menswear, womenswear, and home, showcasing his first collection debuting at Milan Fashion Week in September. He replaces the longstanding Creative Directors, Veronica and Kean Etro. The Etro family sold the business to a private equity firm, L. Catterton. De Vincenzo shared the news on his Instagram. “I’d love to share with you my happiness for being appointed creative director of Etro! Thanks to all of you who are always by my side,” he wrote.

While Veronica and Kean Etro are stepping away as Creative Directors, they will remain with the business, overseeing strategies with their brother, Jacobo. “Through his sensitivity for colors, prints, and fabrics, we are sure that Marco will be able to translate at best Etro’s extraordinary heritage into new interpretations for the brand’s different collections and also giving a new drive to the world of accessories,” said Fabrizia Cardinali, the CEO of Etro.

Jacob Elordi is TAG Hauer’s New Ambassador

Euphoria star, Jacob Elordi, is the new face of TAG Hauer. The Australian actor will represent the Swiss watch brand and square-shaped Monaco watch. The brand will launch a limited edition of the watch at the Monaco Grand Prix, with an event taking place in its honor. “I’ve always been drawn to things that are both classic and timeless,” said Elordi. “…so partnering with TAG Heuer was perfect for me.”

“I’ve always admired Hollywood’s iconic leading men, so to wear the Monaco — a watch made famous by Steve McQueen — is something special,” Elordi continued. “TAG Heuer has been the epitome of elegance and excellence for over 160 years, and it’s thrilling to be their representative for the next generation.”

Balenciaga Takes Over NYSE

Balenciaga showcased its collaboration with Adidas on a special runway, taking over Manhattan’s New York Stock Exchange. This is the first time the public has been allowed access to the building since 2001. The event featured stellar guests, including Kanye West, Marc Jacobs, Chloe Sevigny, Vera Wang, and many others. The looks explore tailoring in dark shades, with suits, coats, and denim. The collaboration with Adidas combined sportswear, the brand’s iconic three stripes, and a logo with ‘Balenciaga’ underneath.

“At Balenciaga, we cater to different types of clients,” said Demna, Creative Director of Balenciaga. “We already have the streetwear, sport-inspired part, and the Garde-Robe part is really something new.” Perhaps the most memorable aspect of the runway was the bondage masks worn underneath every outfit. According to Demna, the headwear ‘helped [him] style the collection, because otherwise, I would find it a little bit too classic.’

The Best Looks from Cannes Film Festival

Celebrating the 75th Cannes Film Festival, stars donned the red carpet wearing their most beautiful looks. Lea Seydoux, Kristen Stewart, and Marion Cotillard wore their favorite labels – Louis Vuitton and Chanel, respectively. Bella Hadid turned to five archive pieces, wearing 1987 Gianni Versace, 2001 and 2003 Versace, 1996 Tom Ford for Gucci, and 1986 Chanel. Other standouts included Anne Hathaway in Armani, Måneskin in Gucci, and Deepika Padukone in Nicolas Ghesquiere.
