Early Life and Career Beginnings

Jacques Berman Webster II, professionally known as Travis Scott, was born in Houston, Texas on 30 April 1992 to his mother and his grandfather (his father died shortly after leaving his mother). Webster would reside with his grandmother in South Park, Houston, originally an Irish and later a high-crime neighbourhood, until age six, when he joined his parents living in Missouri City, a middle-class suburb, southwest of Houston. He graduated from Elkins High School and moved to the University of Texas San Antonio instructing himself for a semester before dropping out against his parents’s advice, to focus on music.

Along with longtime friend and photographer Christ Holloway, Scott created a music duo called ‘The Graduates’ who released an untitled, first EP on Myspace in 2008. In 2009, Scott created yet another group, this time with another schoolmate named OG Chess called ‘The Classmates’ who released two projects together. He dropped out of college and moved to New York City where he spent his time working with his friend, Mike Waxx but soon became frustrated when things didn’t progress. He then moved to Los Angeles after spending a mere four months in New York City. When he arrived in LA, he slept on a friend’s couch and continued to make music.
