Established in 1976, Langtang National Park is the fourth national park of Nepal which first came into existence as the Himalayan National Park. The park has been a place of curiosity and interest for wildlife lovers and trekkers alike.
About Langtang National Park
The protected area of Langtang extends to an altitude of 6,450 m (21,160 ft) and covers an area of 1,710 km (660 sq mi). The park is divided from east-west to south-east by Gosainkunda Lake and the Dorje Lakpa mountain range. The highest point of the park is the summit of Langtang Lirung (7,245 m (23,770 ft). The northern and eastern boundary of the national park runs along the international border to Tibet. The western boundary is the Bhote Kosi and Trisuli rivers and the southern boundary is 32 km from the Kathmandu Valley. Located 1 km (20 mi) north.

Langtang National Park in Nepal is very close to the capital Kathmandu. There are various points of access to this limitless area of natural biodiversity. You can reach Langtang National Park in a 4-hour drive (202 km) from Kathmandu.
There are buses starting from 7-9am in the morning, which run from Machhapokhari, New Bus Park in Kathmandu to Siyabrubesi in Langtang National Park. Ticket fare ranges between Rs 600-800.
Since no luxury buses run between the two points, you can also opt for a local jeep for Rs 800-1000 or hire a private jeep for Rs 15,000. The jeep has the capacity to seat 6-7 passengers and the cost can be shared among them.

1. Langtang Valley
Langtang Valley is one of the most beautiful valleys in the world. The Langtang Valley region of central Nepal is located 19 miles north of Kathmandu. It is also close to the Tibetan border. Located close to the capital Kathmandu, the journey is easy but risky. The valley extends from east to west, and is bordered by the Himalayas to the north and the slightly lower Langtang Lirung range to the south.

2.Helambu
About 80 km from the capital Kathmandu, Helambu is a region of highland villages. Kelambu Trek is a short trek in untouched areas of Nepal. The trek starts from Sundarijal, an hour’s drive from Kathmandu. After an hour, you enter Shivpuri National Park. En route you will cover Chisopani, Kutumsang, Thadepati and Sermathang. The trek finally ends at Melamchi bridge market in Helambu area. This is an ideal trek to see the densely forested mountains with the backdrop of the Himalayas.

3. Gosaikund
Gosaikund is a grand trek from Kathmandu, taking six to seven days. The trek starts from Sundarijal, an hour’s drive from the capital. Sundrijal is a great place and picnic spot for the locals of Kathmandu, especially because of the waterfall. The trek passes through Mulpani village, Chisapani, Tuksang and Ghopate before reaching Gosainkunda. Gosaikund is a lake surrounded by hills. This lake remains frozen for six months in a year. The breathtaking beauty of the lake and its surroundings makes your week-long trekking worth the effort.
