The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the Civil Services Examination every year to select suitable candidates for the various administrative services such as the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and others. The Preliminary examination for this year is scheduled to be conducted on 16 June 2024.

UPSC Civil Services Selection Process

The selection process for the UPSC Civil Services involves the following stages:

  • Preliminary Examination: A screening test consisting of two objective-type papers (General Studies and Civil Services Aptitude Test) designed to test a candidate’s general awareness and aptitude.
  • Main Examination: An extensive written examination covering various subjects.
