Offline Process (If Online Fails)
If online payment is not possible, visit these authorized centers:
-
District/Sub-Division Office: Visit the “Assistant Engineer (Revenue)” office of your electricity board.
-
Citizen Service Centers (CSC): Look for MeeSeva (AP/Telangana), Bangalore One (Karnataka), e-Seva, or Common Service Centers (CSC) in your neighborhood.
-
Requirement: Carry the original old bill. Cash payments are usually accepted up to ₹5,000 (varies by state).
-
How to Check Payment Status
-
Via Portal: Go to the official website $\rightarrow$ Click “View Last Online Payment Receipt” $\rightarrow$ Enter Consumer No.
-
Via SMS: Most boards allow status checks via SMS.
-
Example (General Format): Send
BILL <Space> ConsumerNumberto the official helpline (e.g., 1912).
-
-
If status says “Pending”: Do not pay again immediately. Wait 24-48 hours for the bank to settle the transaction with the electricity board.
Common Problems & Solutions
1. “Transaction Failed” but money deducted from bank:
-
Solution: Do not make a second payment. Wait for 24 hours. The money will either be refunded to your bank or credited to the bill automatically.
-
Fix: If not resolved in 3 days, email the Transaction ID to your bank’s support and the electricity board’s helpdesk.
2. “Invalid Consumer Number” Error:
-
Solution: Check if your board has changed codes (e.g., UP recently migrated rural accounts to 10-digit numbers). Look at your latest physical bill for the new ID.
-
Fix: Ensure you selected the correct “Sub-division” or “Circle” if the app asks for it.
3. Bill shows “Zero” or “Paid” when it is not:
-
Solution: This often happens 1-2 days after the bill generation date.
-
Fix: Wait for the official email/SMS notification that the bill is generated, then try again.
4. Wrongly paid to another Consumer Number:
-
Solution: Extremely difficult to reverse.
-
Fix: Immediately visit the local subdivision office with your proof of payment and write a written application to the Assistant Engineer requesting a transfer of credit (Success is not guaranteed; verify numbers twice!).
5. Unable to download receipt:
-
Solution: Popup blockers often stop the download.
-
Fix: Disable popup blockers in your browser or check the “History/My Account” section of the portal.
