Available since June 18 on Prime Video, the series “We Les Lies” adapts the eponymous novel of E. Lockhart. But the end was able to leave the spectators and the circumspect readers … We explain everything to you.

At the crossroads between the psychological thriller, the teenage drama and the summer entertainment, we liars have a lot of arguments to please the subscribers of Prime Video.

This adaptation of the BastSeller of E. Lockhart published in 2014 follows the rich family Sinclair, apparently perfect, while spending the summer on her private island off the coast of Massachusetts. But this year, something will happen for cadence and its cousins, who call themselves liars.

A final revelation that will surprise you

If you went to the end of the 8 episodes of season 1, then you know what it is all about: Cadence remembers the traumatic evening that made it forget everything. She and the liars have decided to set fire to the Maison des Sinclair, who represents everything that does not go into their privileged family.

While Gat chooses to wait for them at the boat at midnight, Mirren, Johnny and Cadence sprinkle with alcohol with each room of the building, before setting fire. But now, adolescents did not plan that the flames would grow so quickly.

While Cadence manages to escape, she discovers with amazement that she is the only one in the pontoon. When it turns around to observe the flames, the house explodes due to a gas leak. She then finds herself projected in the water.

The daughter of one of the greatest British actors hides in the series! Have you recognized it?

The survivor therefore understands that her friends have died since last summer and that she imagined them, since her arrival on the island. She must live with the weight of her guilt, especially since her family thinks that it is a tragic accident. Finally, everyone except Harris, the Patriarch Sinclair, who understood that his little daughter has things to blame. In exchange for his silence, he announces that he will present her to the press as her new heiress. What she refuses.

A ghost story?

While Cadence makes the remarkable choice to move away from his family, the camera lingers on the character of Carrie Sinclair (Gummer Mamie). We discover that the mother has dropped into alcohol since the death of her son, Johnny (Joseph Zada). The latter appears … and discusses with his mother.

The ghost of his son is the representation of his trauma: an aspect which is not at all addressed in the novel and which allows showrunners Julie Plec and Carina Adly Mackenzie to open the door to a possible season 2 if the series is a success on Prime Video.

The two screenwriters could well adapt the prequel to the Sinclair family written by E. Lockhart in 2022. Entitled “Family of Liars”, he follows Carrie Sinclair, a fiery and addicted heiress who hides many secrets …

If she is ordered, season 2 of us the liars will tell a drama that took place during her adolescence. In the series, Bess (Candice King) and her sister see the death of their children as a punishment after “What they did in the summer of their 16 years”. The presence of the ghost of his son could well serve as a common thread between the past and the present, in order to allow him to mourn and accept the truth …
