What You Need to Know When Buying Supreme Online | Curated Mint

Supreme is without a doubt the most popular brand in the world right now. Everywhere you go you’re likely to see someone in it, but when it comes to buying it it’s a tricky task. Here’s how to get some for yourself.

It doesn’t take a genius to see that Supreme is in high demand or that it is one of the most popular, if not the most popular, brand on the planet. Long gone are the days when you could just walk into a store and cop yourself a box logo (or ‘bogo’ to the serious fans) hoodie despite them being so popular. The brand has stuck to its less is more mantra and that definitely won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. Everywhere you walk though, chances are you’ll see someone wearing something emblazoned with the brand’s now-iconic logo. So how exactly are you meant to get yourself something from the highly sought after brand?

When it comes to getting Supreme, it isn’t just a case of walking into a store and getting the item you saw on your Instagram feed. Yes, there are nine store locations across the world, including Los Angeles, New York and London, but the chances of being able to just walk into a store and grab yourself a highly sought after piece of Supreme is highly unlikely.

Every Thursday during each season, Supreme will release a new drop of clothing, accessories and furniture (there is even a Supreme brick out there) at 11am GMT. Typically this involved customers queueing at ridiculous hours to try and make their way into the store – so many people have turned up in the past that now the New York City Committee Board has unanimously denied a Supreme x Louis Vuitton pop-up store.

Recently Supreme introduced a new system whereby customers queue on Monday for a sort of raffle ticket which will allow them a place in the queue for the Thursday drop. Either way, you still have to queue.

When you’re buying Supreme, you should also take note of the brand’s rules – you can’t buy more than one of the same product. You should also understand what ‘cartjacking’ as it is a significant problem for buyers online. Basically, cartjacking is when you have something in your ‘cart’ to check out, but you then lose it to someone else – essentially having something in your cart doesn’t mean it is safely yours. You then have to go back to your cart, remove that item and carry on – an annoying process that will slow down your purchase time significantly.

There is also the option of using a bot, which can cost around £100. This will automatically buy the product you want when it is released. This will allow you to cop highly sought after pieces with ease, but also at an extra price. The best ones are Supreme Bot and Super Cop-Bot.

How To Get Resell Supreme

Supreme isn’t just about getting your hands on a product and wearing it to impress your friends anymore. With the high demand there comes an even higher amount of people willing to pay more than the RRP for the gear. This has resulted in a reselling phenomenon, which is the same procedure for products from Kanye West’s Yeezy line, Gosha Rubchinskiy and Palace Skateboards. With Supreme though, the demand is even more. A 1999 Supreme x The Sopranos box logo T-shirt which has recently gone on sale for $5,400 is just one example of the type of inflation that occurs with regards to reselling Supreme.

You might wonder how and why so many people are able to afford clothes that essentially cost a week’s wages per item. Why does the online site sell out within minutes? Basically, people aren’t just buying to keep. The demand means that once they’ve got their hands on a Supreme item, they can sell it for on average three times the original price.

So where can you get a second-hand piece of Supreme? There are several sites out there where people resell and plenty of forums where people who are dedicated to Supreme congregate. The Basement, Supreme Talk, Reddit and Grailed are some of the best places to get yourself some Supreme if you have missed the online and in-store opportunities.

Why Is Supreme So Popular?

Originally intended for skaters, sitting alongside Vans, Stussy and Huf, Supreme has essentially become a subculture in itself. Look at any street style gallery and you can probably guarantee the someone will be wearing an item of Supreme. There is no other single brand that commands such attention. Why is this though? It could be argued that it all comes down to the hype really. No brand has never been so hyped up and that hype is continuously growing. Yet there is more to it than that.

Supreme survives on a mantra of keeping stocks low. This began purely as a means of not being left with any unwanted products back in the early Nineties and the brand’s founder James Jebbia decided that only small runs of creation should happen.

Despite a ridiculous growth in its popularity since the Nineties, the brand has stayed true to this. Products are still made in limited batches and so people can’t always get their hands on the products they actually want, even if they queue for the shop’s 11am opening time or refresh their internet.

In some respect, what makes people want to buy Supreme is the fact that it has become so competitive. With a Supreme T-shirt or a Supreme hoodie (especially the Supreme Bogo hoodie) comes a sense of achievement. We are all natural collectors most typically of rare items (remember the hype surrounding Pokemon cards?) and so people, teenagers especially, have made Supreme products those rare collector items. Whether you get yourself a Supreme sweater or a Supreme hoodie, you can be sure that you’ll be the envy of your friends.

How To Buy Supreme Online

It’s simple really. Online purchases are simple – just be on the site at 11am and try and cop the items you want. This isn’t an easy feat though and most things sell out within minutes, so you’ll probably actually end up with nothing in your bag. This is when you should think about paying for a bot – this will automatically purchase the item you want but at an extra cost of usually around $100. If you are buying from a store get in line on a Monday to reserve your space in the queue on a Thursday morning. If you aren’t able to get anything this way, then there’s always reselling platforms you can go to, although sellers typically double or triple the price.

On That Note

Supreme is so popular that your chances of actually getting something on one of the drop days are extremely slim. On an average drop day (Thursdays) traffic to the website increases by roughly 60%, with hypebeasts across the world trying their luck at getting their hands on rare pieces. There are other ways to get the items you want though. Many people now use bots to make sure they get their hands on a new product, although this comes at a cost. Once everything is sold out, resells of items instantly pop up on forums, eBay and Depop so there is always this option if you’ve missed the 11m drop time – although saying that, this comes at a price and usually resellers multiply the price.
