While Hollywood fled for years, this darling actor from the 90s is finally ready to play the main role of a Netflix series

Josh Harnett is experiencing a revival in his career. Variety We learn that the 46-year-old actor was chosen to play the main role of a Netflix mini-series still without title, the action of which will take place and will be shot in Newfoundland in Canada. Harnett and Jessica Rhoades (who has been working on Black Mirror since season 5) have both joined the project as executive producers.

The official synopsis of the series is as follows: “When a mysterious marine creature terrorizes an isolated city in Newfoundland, a hardened fisherman must fight to protect his family, his community and his lifestyle endangered.“Jesse McKewn (Umbrella Academy, The Sinner) is the creator and showrunner of the project.

A return in force of Josh Harnett?

Josh Harnett is best known for his roles in the late 90s and early 2000s. He proved to be in 1998 by playing John Tate in the Halloween horror film, 20 years later and Zeke Tyler in The Faculty, another horror film with a SF touch. We then saw him in Virgin Suicides of Sofia Coppola in 1999, Pearl Harbor by Michael Bay (2001), the fall of the black falcon of Ridley Scott (2001) and Othello 2003, an adaptation ofOthello by Tim Blake Nelson.

For a few years – and even if he never stopped working – the actor set off with Hollywood. But that has changed for two years.

Among his most recent films, we count Oppenheimer by Christopher Nolan in 2023 and Trap by Mr. Night Shyamalan in 2024 where he plays a serial killer who accompanies his daughter to a concert while the police set up a device to get it. We could also see him do specific appearances in The Bear or in season 6 of Black Mirror.
