His “Superman” is released on July 9 and a place is already reserved for Batman in the new DC Universe, but James Gunn sees further and says that a new film around Wonder Woman is being written.
Technically, the DC Universe started on December 5, with the animated series Creature Commandos visible on Max in France. But its real takeoff is scheduled for next July thanks to the James Gunn Superman, which also oversees the new shared universe alongside producer Peter Safran.
Insofar as a few titles have already been announced, we know that Supergirl will fly solo at the end of June 2026, in the guise of Milly Alcock, after appearing alongside his cousin this summer. And that a place is already reserved for Batman in the film The Brave and the Bold, where the Chauve-Souris man will have another face than that of Robert Pattinson, who will continue to evolve on his side, on the fringes of the central part of the DC Universe.
But that's not all: in a long interview given to Entertainment Weeklya month now from the release of his superman, James Gunn revealed that a new film devoted to Wonder Woman was “Currently writing.” By whom? The director, screenwriter and producer does not specify it, but he distinguishes with the prequelle paradise lost series, on the Amazons of TheMyscira, planned for HBO and who “Go slowly but advance anyway.”
Gal Gadot back in Wonder Woman?
If Patty Jenkins looked optimistic about the possibility of stacking, even within a new universe, everything suggests that Wonder Woman's reboot will be without her, otherwise James Gunn would have said. In the same way that the latter said that the new Diana Prince had not yet been found (just like the Bruce Wayne of The Brave and the Bold), which seems to close the door to a return from Gal Gadot in the role. Like Jason Momoa, expected in Lobo against Supergirl, the actress can however stay in the DC universe thanks to another role, which has not yet been defined.
For the moment, the project is therefore blurred, because it has neither director, title, exit date, nor main actress. But the return of Wonder Woman is in the pipes, and he gives the following two words to the fore: Justice League. “There is no League justice in this world … Not yet”replies James Gunn, while saying that he necessarily thinks about it and that it is part of his plans, in the long term, for the DC Universe.
